Armenian News Radio



Concept. News Radio is the only private news and talk radio in Armenia. It is a daytime, workday news channel which broadcasts daily 9 hours of news, highlights, comments and analysis. News Radio is probably the first “open source” radio in the world which means that the responsibility for covering civil issues is handed directly to the civil society. The station provides NPOs and civil activists with unlimited free of charge airtime for their expression as well as free of charge professional production and postproduction services. Significant share of the broadcast content is being generated as a result of our collaboration with the civil society and generally with all the possible parties in interest.
Editorial policy. Our work is based on our unshakeable belief that every idea (that doesn’t contradict universal values) has the right to exist and spread. We do not belong to any political movement or ideology because we believe that good journalism can be an ideology by itself. We are sure that the society is wise enough to carry out right decisions when it knows the truth so we do not accept any kind of information sorting or limiting. Our mission in general is serving to the society as a mirror reflecting the reality as objectively as possible. In terms of Armenian modernity we deem it necessary to put a strong stress on pushing forward the voices of those groups or individuals who have important things to say but don’t' have any opportunity to be heard.
Target group. The very concept of the radio reflects our attitude to our audience. News Radio is a daytime workday news channel and naturally the image of the listener that we are keeping in our mind is an image of socially active person, who works, earns money, changes, develops, learns and grows.
